The National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) is issued to all Pakistani citizens residing outside Pakistan and to dual nationals. It serves as legal proof of Pakistani citizenship and identity. NICOP holders can enter Pakistan without a visa and retain all rights of a Pakistani citizen while abroad.
Prepare your valid Pakistani passport, proof of foreign residence (residency permit, visa, or foreign national ID), and your existing CNIC (if you have one). For renewal or reprint, bring your current/expired NICOP. For modification, bring supporting documents for the change (e.g. marriage certificate for name change).
You can apply via two methods: (A) Pakistani Embassy / Consulate: Visit the nearest Pakistani diplomatic mission in your country of residence. You can also apply at a NADRA office inside Pakistan if you are visiting. (B) Pak Identity Mobile App: Apply online from anywhere using the Pak ID app (available on Android & iOS). Upload documents digitally and complete biometric verification at the embassy or a NADRA centre.
Fill in the application form (available at the embassy or within the Pak ID app). Your photograph and fingerprints will be captured — either at the embassy/NADRA centre or at an authorised biometric collection point. Double-check all fields before submitting.
Fees are charged in USD (or PKR equivalent at the official rate on application date). Choose Normal, Urgent, or Executive based on how quickly you need the card.
You can track your NICOP status through the Pak Identity mobile app or via the NADRA tracking portal. The card will be delivered by post to your registered address abroad, or you can collect it from the embassy/NADRA office depending on your application method.
